About the 2018 Tour

Big Medium's East Austin Studio Tour (EAST) is a free, annual, self-guided art event spanning November 10-11 & 17-18, 2018 from 11am-6pm. EAST provides opportunities for the public to meet the artists and artisans of Austin in their creative spaces.

How to Apply

The EAST call for artists will run from July 10 - August 10, 2018. The applications are available below, please be sure to complete the correct form by carefully reading the guidelines. If you have space available or are seeking a space to show your work during the tour, please fill out our Guest | Host Form.

There are four separate forms for participating in EAST 2018. Carefully read each category, then select how you would like to participate. Make sure to note all requirements for your specific category. If you have questions, please contact us at info@bigmedium.org.

Artists

Artists identifies individual creatives and collaboratives. Participants must be free and open both weekends of the tour from 11am-6pm.

  • Individual artist
    • Artist in a studio
    • Guest at a studio
    • Artist featured at a gallery
    • Artist in a temporary space
  • Collaborative
    • Two or more artists producing work together

Exhibitions

Exhibitions is intended for art shows with more than one artist in a single listing and time based experiences. Exhibitions can occur during or after tour hours (11am-6pm).

  • Group Exhibition
    • Multiple artists in any venue
  • Art Event
    • A time based art experience in any venue

Fellowship

Big Medium provides opportunities for artists to participate in EAST through our Fellowship Program. Big Medium awards artists scholarships based on artistic merit and financial limitations. EAST applicants may apply for a Fellowship within the tour application to receive partial or full financial support to cover the participation fee.

Library

Big Medium partners with the Austin Public Library to highlight exhibitions at branches within tour boundaries.
