Ike E. Morgan was born in 1958 in Rockdale, Texas. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia and was hospitalized from 1977 until 2000 at the Austin State Hospital, where he first painted George Washington from a dollar bill. He now lives independently and paints every day, still focusing his work on Washington and other presidents.
